Heavy flooding reported in Brunswick, St. Simons Island overnight

Most of the water has receded from the streets, but the public beach access on Cedar Street in St. Simons Island is nonexistent.

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — Heavy flooding was reported overnight Tuesday night in Brunswick, but by Wednesday morning, much of the water had receded from the roads in time for drivers to commute to work.

A truck hauling telephone poles tipped over at the end of Parkwood Drive, but no one was hurt, according to First Coast News crews on the scene.

Ponding could still be seen on the sides of the road along Brunswick and in St. Simons Island.

Public beach access on Cedar Street in St. Simons Island is nonexistent, with water coming all the way up to the wooden beach walkovers along the beach.
