JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — If you're a fan of longer evenings, make sure to soak up the sunlight this week!
Daylight saving time ends Sunday, Nov. 3. Our sunsets will go from the 6 p.m. hour to the 5 p.m. hour. This means our sunrises will also fall back from the 7 a.m. hour to the 6 a.m. hour.
Here's a breakdown:
Our days will be getting shorter during this time. The sunrise will slowly happen later in the morning, rising in the 7 a.m. hour again by Nov. 24.
The sunset will drop back earlier in the evening until it stops at 5:25 p.m. in Jacksonville in late November and early December.
For comparison, Nov. 2 will have 10 hours and 55 minutes of sunlight. Sunrise will be at 7:42 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:37 p.m.
Dec. 21, which is the winter solstice and the shortest day of the year, will have 10 hours and 11 minutes of sunlight. Sunrise will be at 7:19 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:30 p.m.
Editor's Note: Although the sunset slowly starts inching later after Dec. 6, the sunrise also continues to get later at a faster rate, shortening our hours of sunlight until the solstice.
