JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Friday that eastbound and westbound lanes of Arlington Expressway near Mill Creek lane are closed due to flooding.
The National Weather Service, which confirmed an EF-1 tornado struck the area, said there was an estimated three feet of water with vehicles stuck in the flood waters. There were no injuries.
The alert was sent at 2:54 p.m. and the agency is urging caution while traveling. There was a tornado warning in Duval County and a severe thunderstorm warning for St. Johns County until 2:45 p.m.
The National Weather Service reported an overturned vehicle off of Beach Boulevard and downed powerlines near Kernan and Atlantic boulevards.
