Sorry winter weather lovers, FCN's Lauren Rautenkranz is calling for an early spring. Here's why:

The Pennsylvania groundhog may be calling for six more weeks of winter, but Meteorologist Lauren Rautenkranz is predicting an early spring.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Prognosticator of Prognosticators, Punxsutawney Phil, appeared from his burrow at the Gobbler's Knob in Pennsylvania on Wednesday. He made his annual prediction answering the question - will there be six more weeks of winter or will there be an early spring?

This year, the groundhog saw his shadow which means six more weeks of winter it is.

Ugh.

Now wait...

Punxsutawney Phil isn't the only weather-predicting rodent across the country. We cannot forget about General Beauregard Lee in Georgia.

He's closer to us in Jacksonville after all, right? Surely his prediction should mean more to us!

This year, General Lee did NOT see his shadow. This means there will be an early spring.

So, who has the best prediction?

FCN's Lauren Rautenkranz begs to differ with Phil and is in the camp of an early spring with General Lee.

According to the Climate Prediction Center, above average temperatures are expected overall for the months of February, March, and April. With a pattern of a strong high pressure ridge in place, the jet stream would be held farther north the majority of the time. This would call for warmer weather as a whole with only shots of cooler air from time to time.

Therefore, an early spring it is for the First Coast!
