Clay County roads flood as water levels rise in Black Creek

Around 11 a.m., officials said Lazy Acres Road and parts of Scenic Drive in Middleburg were flooded. The roads sit along the North Prong of Black Creek.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — As Tropical Storm Debby continues to sweep across the First Coast, Clay County officials are growing more concerned about the water levels in Black Creek.

For residents living along Black Creek, the water is seeping into their backyards. 

County officials projected creek levels to reach just under 20 feet by 8 a.m. Tuesday. 

Around 11 a.m., officials said Lazy Acres Road and parts of Scenic Drive in Middleburg were flooded. The roads sit along the North Prong of Black Creek.

Officials are urging residents living in the area to monitor the creek levels and be prepared to leave if necessary.

The Clay County Emergency Management will assess damage within the area. Residents can report damage by calling 1-877-252-9362.

Lazy Acres Road and parts of Scenic Drive are flooded. CCSO has a deputy blocking the roads. Remember, do not drive through standing water - it may be deeper than it looks. Turn around, don't drown.
