JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Friday is expected to be the busiest travel day of the holiday weekend at Jacksonville International Airport, according to airport officials. It's also expected to be the busiest holiday travel period ever at airports across the country, AAA reports.
Nearly 14,000 passengers are flying out of Jacksonville Friday, according to airport officials. Check how busy the airport's parking lots are before you arrive. JIA updates a web page on the status of each lot, which you can find here. Also, be sure to check your flight status online.
Airport officials are advising people to arrive at least two hours before their flight. Several people First Coast News spoke with in line at American Airlines Friday morning agree; there was a long line, but security was a breeze.
"We ended up taking a ride here so we didn't have to park and we are still like an hour in line to check in for bags," said Denise Steiger.
"Get here early, regardless of what they say," Marie Mobley said. "Two hours, sometimes more than two hours, that's what I suggest. And have all your credentials and everything ready to go."
