'I'm going to lose my job' | Airline passengers look to buses, trains as JAX flight cancellations continue

Travelers are doing their best impression of "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" as they try to find a way home in the airline madness.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Tuesday brought another day of 40+ delays and 15+ cancellations at Jacksonville International Airport.

It has some folks looking at other options.

"It feels like not a movie, but like a series because you have to go through all these steps," said Emanuel Pagan while waiting for a bus at the Greyhound station in downtown Jacksonville.

Four days, four cancellations, every morning Emanuel Pagan thinks it's going to be the day that his family gets back home to Buffalo, New York.

He was supposed to fly out Friday, but says Frontier keeps canceling his flight, sticking him on one for the next day, then canceling that flight.

"I'm an inspector," said Pagan. "I think because of this situation with the airlines and the buses and all, I'm going to lose my job."

Pagan says if his fifth attempt at the flight to Buffalo doesn't get off the ground, he'll be changing his approach.

"If that doesn't work, I prefer to take my bus from Jacksonville to New York," said Pagan.

Meanwhile, at the Amtrak train station in Jacksonville, other folks have already given up wings for wheels.

"Full, there were 200 people in three cars," said Delores Rockwood after she got off the train Tuesday.

Rockwood takes the train down to see her daughter every year, but says she's never seen it as full as her trip back.

She'll take the trusty train again next year, but as busy as it was, she thinks she may plan her holiday travel a little differently next time.

"I'm going to stay two days longer next year I think," said Rockwood. "Might not be as many people traveling back at the same time."

As for Pagan, when he finally makes it back to Buffalo, his family plans to spend next Christmas at home.

"Overall, vacation is going to be more than two years until I do another one," said Rockwood.

If there's any silver lining here at the airport, it's that JAX tweeted that all the parking lots and garages are open again.

Monday all but one was full - a sign things may finally be starting to calm down.
