JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — AAA and Farah & Farah both announced this week two separate programs that are aimed to avoid drunk driving during the holiday season.
AAA
AAA announced Wednesday that their 'Tow to Go' program will start Friday.
Tow to Go is free, available to AAA members and non-members, and "works to keep impaired drivers off the road this holiday season," according to a news release. The release states that the program offers a confidential local ride for one person and for their vehicle to be towed to a safe location within a 10-mile radius. However, Tow to Go may not be available in rural areas or during severe weather conditions, AAA says.
"If you are faced with the decision of driving impaired, put down those keys and pick up the phone to call Tow to Go," Montrae Waiters, spokesperson of AAA – The Auto Club Group said in the release. "We’ll dispatch a truck to take you and your vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius."
AAA says their service technicians are expected to rescue more than 937,000 drivers with car trouble nationwide during the upcoming holidays. AAA also says that the Tow to Go program should only be treated as a last resort, as you should "plan and identify a designated driver or ride-sharing service before you party."
The Tow to Go program is only available from 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2023 to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024.
