Lanes reopen after water main break causes major lane closures in Mandarin neighborhood

JEA is currently monitoring the situation and is working to resolve the issue.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE: The I-295 Southbound exit ramp to San Jose Blvd. and two of the three Southbound lanes of San Jose Boulevard are back open. JEA crews are still in the area.

The latest update from JEA at 9:56pm is crews are now excavating the impacted area around the leak to begin the repair process. All lanes are expected to reopen Thursday morning.

A water main break has caused a two lane closure on San Jose Boulevard, just south of Claire Lane.

"It was one lane, down to one lane," Mandarin resident Ivan Penido said.

Ivan Penido was on his way to dinner in Mandarin when he got stuck in traffic caused by the water main break.

"It was a bad experience. Usually what will take me 20 minutes to get here, it took me 45 minutes," Penido said.

JEA is currently monitoring the situation and say it is working to resolve the cause of the water leak. The good news is JEA customers are not impacted.

JEA officials say it happened in front of the Claire Lane Center shopping plaza.

The Southbound San Jose Blvd at Claire Lane will be impacted until 6 a.m. Thursday.
