FHP: Motorcyclist dead after crashing into sedan on St. Johns Bluff Road South

Florida Highway Patrol says the motorcyclist was a 42-year-old Jacksonville man.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 42-year-old motorcyclist died Tuesday after crashing into a sedan on St. Johns Bluff Road South in Jacksonville during the morning commute, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

At 5:35 a.m., FHP's crash report states the motorcyclist who was a Jacksonville man, was traveling northbound on the road in the left lane at the Interstate 295 southbound on-ramp.

The report then says a sedan, which was driven by a 61-year-old Winter Park man, attempted a left turn onto I-295, entering the path of the motorcycle, as the front of the motorcycle collided with the passenger's side of the sedan.

After the collision, the sedan came to final rest on the shoulder against a pedestrian crossing traffic signal, according to FHP, while the motorcycle came to final rest in the northbound lanes of St. Johns Bluff Road South.

Troopers say the Jacksonville man was pronounced dead at the scene by members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department; the Winter Park man suffered minor injuries in the crash, the report states.

The crash caused hourslong closures in the area.
