Semitruck crash on I-95 near Duval, Nassau county line backs up traffic in both directions for hours

The left and center lanes of the northbound side of I-95 were blocked by the crash, and one southbound lane was also blocked. The crash has since cleared.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A semitrailer that crashed on I-95 Tuesday morning near the Duval and Nassau county line that had traffic backing up in both directions for hours is now cleared.

A release from the Florida Highway Patrol says the truck was driving north in the right lane around 6:30 a.m. when the driver, a 48-year-old Jacksonville man, failed to maintain his lane and drove off the road to the left. After leaving the roadway, the semi flipped onto its side, landing on top of the guardrail in the median, the report says.

The truck appeared to be pulling a UPS trailer.

The left and center lanes of the northbound side of I-95 were blocked by the crash, and one southbound lane was also blocked. As of 2:15 p.m., traffic was again moving freely through the area.

The driver was not hurt in the crash, according to the FHP report.
