CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A school bus carrying 24 children was involved in a multi-vehicle crash on Kingsley Avenue in Clay County Thursday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Around 1:50 p.m., a sedan was traveling west in the left turn lane of Kingsley Avenue near State Road 21, an FHP crash report states.

FHP said the 17-year-old Orange Park girl driving changed lanes from the turn lane into the left lane of travel, where an SUV was stopped ahead.

The report states the driver "couldn't stop in time" for the stopped vehicle ahead of her, and veered right to try to avoid hitting the SUV. But, the front left of the sedan struck the back of the SUV.

After the crash, the SUV started to veer left out of the roadway toward the left turn lane, but continued traveling westbound and struck the front of a school bus stopped in the left eastbound travel lane.

The 60-year-old woman driving the SUV suffered minor injuries in the crash, FHP said.

No one else was hurt in the crash.
