Putnam County woman dies after crash on County Road 315, FHP says

An FHP crash report states the driver of a pickup truck failed to yield to an oncoming vehicle when making a left turn, causing the crash.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — A Putnam County woman is dead after a crash Sunday afternoon on County Road 315, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

An FHP crash report states around 12:43 p.m., a pickup truck was traveling south on CR-315 north of 64th Street.

At the same time, another pickup truck was heading north on CR-315, opposite the first pickup truck.

According to FHP, the 40-year-old Yulee woman driving the first pickup truck failed to yield to the second truck when she was attempting to make a left turn onto 64th Street.

As a result, the front of the second truck crashed into the front right of the truck attempting the left turn.

Both trucks came to a final rest inside the intersection after the crash.

The Putnam County firefighters union reported that first responders requested a helicopter to take a patient to the hospital after the crash.

FHP said the 72-year-old woman driving the second truck died from her injuries at the hospital. The report said the woman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The 40-year-old woman was not hurt in the crash and was wearing a seatbelt, according to FHP.
