PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — A 47-year-old Satsuma woman is dead after being hit by a car while she was riding her bike on U.S. Highway 17, north of Shady Oak Drive on Thursday night.
The Florida Highway Patrol report says she was not wearing a helmet when the 63-year-old driver of a Nissan Xterra crashed into her around 5:54 p.m.
The report said the bicyclist died on the scene. The driver was not hurt.
