Pedestrian struck, killed in Columbia County crash

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in Columbia County that left a 61-year-old woman dead Tuesday night.

The crash happened around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of US 441 and County Road 252, an FHP report states.

A Chevrolet pickup truck was heading south on US 441 when it struck a 61-year-old Valdosta woman in the roadway.

FHP said the woman died as a result of the crash.

The 33-year-old Fort White man driving the truck was not hurt in the crash, but a 14-year-old girl riding in the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

A 9-year-old boy was also in the vehicle, he was not hurt.

FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
