JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A motorcyclist died Thursday shortly after suffering critical injuries in a traffic accident on Jacksonville's Southside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
JSO's Lieutenant Nassim Mana says at approximately 10:51 a.m., the motorcyclist who was later identified as a man in his 30s, was traveling westbound in the 8800 block of Atlantic Boulevard when he rear-ended a silver Mercedes that was occupied by a male driver.
First responders from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. JFRD says the driver of the Mercedes did not report any injuries and that no one else was involved in the crash.
Mana says this crash marked as the 112th traffic fatality in Duval County this year.
The crash is under a current, ongoing investigation.
