All I-95 southbound lanes reopened at State Road 16 in St. Johns County following crash

A 48-year-old man suffered minor injuries after a tire blow out caused the semitruck he was driving, to hit the guardrail on the interstate and overturn.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Update: All I-95 southbound lanes have reopened at State Road 16.

A 48-year-old man suffered minor injuries in a single-vehicle, semitruck crash on Interstate 95 at State Road 16 Friday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The crash has caused the two right southbound lanes to be closed on the interstate.

The FHP crash report states that at 5:50 a.m., the unidentified man from Metairie Parish, La. was traveling southbound on I-95 at State Road 16 in the outside lane. The report says the semitruck sustained a "front right passenger side tire blow out."

FHP says the man attempted to stop on the outside shoulder but, "lost control," as then the semitruck struck the guardrail and continued over into the "gore area." The semitruck overturned and struck a set of trees as well, FHP states, coming to final rest on its roof.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue says first responders are on scene of the crash. Drivers should seek alternative routes if possible, as delays are expected in the area.
