Motorcyclist killed in Jacksonville after being hit by two vehicles

Police said the motorcycle was an off-highway, two-wheel dirtbike that was not equipped nor registered for roadway use and the rider was not wearing a helmet.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A motorcyclist was killed in Jacksonville's Northside on Thursday in the 3900 block of Capper Road. Jacksonville police said a male in his late 20s was riding his motorcycle at a high rate of speed around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Capper and Bessent roads.

An SUV traveling westbound on Capper Road made a left turn to go south on Bessent Road in front of the motorcycle resulting in a crash, police said. The motorcycle then slid into the westbound lane where it was struck by another vehicle.

The rider was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

"In this case, the motorcycle was an off-highway two-wheel dirtbike that was not equipped nor registered for roadway use and it does not appear that the rider was wearing a helmet," a JSO news release states.
