JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A motorcyclist was hit and killed by a pickup truck in the Argyle Forest area Tuesday evening.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the motorcyclist, who has not been identified, was traveling east on Argyle Forest Boulevard when a driver of a pickup truck pulled out in front of them from a stop sign at Spencers Trace Drive. The crash occurred around 6:15 p.m.
Jacksonville fire rescue responded to the scene to treat the motorcyclist, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck remained on scene and is cooperating with detectives, JSO Sargent Hungerford said.
Investigation into the crash is still ongoing, but JSO says early indication is that the truck driver is "probably most at fault."
"At this point the truck is probably most at fault, unless the motorcyclist was going at an excessive rate of speed, but we won't know that until we take some measurements off of the truck," Hungerford said.
The truck driver reportedly told JSO he didn't see the motorcycle. JSO said there were no signs of impairment, but darkness may have played a factor.
This is the 138th traffic fatality in Duval County this year and the 25th involving a motorcyclist.
