ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A 59-year-old man is dead after he was hit by an SUV in the pre-dawn hours of Saturday in St. Johns County.
The crash happened at about 2:22 a.m. The SUV was headed south on US 1 near Lewis Point Road when the driver hit the victim, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The man was standing inside the left lane of US, the FHP said.
First responders took the man to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the SUV was not hurt in the crash.
