Man ejected through windshield after early morning crash in Dixie County, FHP says

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 58-year-old man had to be flown to the hospital after he was ejected from his SUV on US 19 in Dixie County early Sunday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened at about 12:15 a.m. on US 19 south of County Road 317.

FHP said the victim was driving a Ford SUV south on US 19 when he left the road and went into a ditch. After coming out of the ditch, the vehicle went airborne and crossed the entrance to a nearby gas station.

The driver was ejected through the windshield after the vehicle hit a concrete pole. 

First responders took the man to the hospital by helicopter. FHP said his injuries are serious.
