JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The intersection of Normandy Boulevard and Yellow Water Road was shut down in all directions for an extended period of time Monday due to a fatal crash.
At 5:35 a.m., a 41-year-old Jacksonville woman who was driving an SUV, was stopped in the left eastbound turn lane of Normandy Boulevard, near the intersection with Yellow Water Road, Florida Highway Patrol's crash report states.
At the same time, a 40-year-old Orange Park woman driving an SUV, was traveling westbound on Normandy Boulevard in the area, and a 49-year-old Middleburg man driving a pickup truck, was traveling eastbound on Normandy Boulevard in the area.
FHP says its "preliminary investigation" reveals that the Jacksonville woman attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot, but her SUV collided with the driver's side of the Orange Park woman's SUV.
As a result of the collision, the report says the Orange Park woman's SUV "began to yaw in [a] counter clockwise motion." Then, the SUV "entered the eastbound travel lane, where the front of the pickup truck collided with the passenger's side of the SUV," troopers say.
The report states the Orange Park woman was pronounced dead at the scene by members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department; her identity is unknown at this time.
