JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The price of gas in Jacksonville and across the state of Florida has been on a downward trend for the past two weeks, but that trend may soon level out.
The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Jacksonville was $4.06 as of Monday, according to GasBuddy. That's down 6.5 cents in the last week, but 57.1 cents higher than a month ago and $1.24 higher than one year ago.
The cheapest station in Jacksonville was $3.84 Sunday, according to GasBuddy, while the most expensive was $4.49.
Statewide, the average price was $4.12 per gallon as of Sunday, 6 cents cheaper than one week ago but 93 cents more than the lowest price in 2022, according to AAA. The lowest price in the state Sunday was $3.69, while the highest was $5.49, according to GasBuddy.
In Georgia, prices dropped 19 cents since last week, according to AAA. The average Monday was $3.95 per gallon for regular unleaded, which is 45 cents more than last month and $1.23 more than this time last year.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline is unchanged in the last week, averaging $4.23 a gallon as of Monday, according to GasBuddy. That's $1.38 higher than a year ago.
Experts predict drivers will soon see a mix of slight decreases and potential increases, with global fuel supply concerns contributing to big swings in the price of oil.
"While the national average should start to stabilize for the time being, there's no telling what's around the corner, at least for now, as the volatility in oil prices persists," GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis Patrick De Haan said in a news release.
