FLORIDA, USA — Drivers expected to hit the road in Florida for Labor Day could see the lowest gas prices for the holiday in three years, according to the American Automobile Association.
AAA says Florida gas prices averaged $3.29 per gallon on Sunday, the lowest daily average price in two months. The state average jumped eight cents early next week, then declined nine cents by the weekend; it was also lower than the national average.
Mark Jenkins, a spokesman for AAA, said in a press release shared with First Coast News Monday that "low oil prices have kept pump prices in check."
During Labor Day last year, Florida drivers paid $3.68 per gallon, $3.52 per gallon in 2022, and $3.02 in 2021, according to AAA.
West Palm Beach, Gainesville and Naples are the "metro markets" where AAA says drivers can expect to see the most expensive gas prices, while Fort Walton Beach, Pensacola and Panama City are the metro markets where drivers can expect to see the least expensive gas prices.
