A Florida Highway Patrol trooper is hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash on the Buckman Bridge Friday evening.
FHP says the crash happened on I-295 SB at the south end of the bridge near the San Jose Blvd ramp.
The trooper was rear-ended while on a traffic stop, authorities say. During the crash, a Ford F-150 was traveling southbound on I-295. The truck veered off the road and struck the concrete barrier wall and then crashed into the rear of the patrol vehicle.
FHP says the trooper was transported to Orange Park Medical Center for her injuries.
The trooper sustained serious injuries from the crash, while the other driver involved did not receive any injuries.
After an investigation was conducted on the scene, the driver, a 31-year-old man from Jacksonville was arrested for driving under the influence and other charges, FHP says.
One right lane is blocked on I-295 SB at this time.
Drivers are urged to use an alternate route and should expect delays in the area.
