FHP: Motorcyclist critically hurt after multi-vehicle crash on US-17 in Clay County

Officials said the crash occurred after a Kia Soul struck the motorcyclist and another vehicle while they were stopped at an intersection.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A 61-year-old motorcyclist sustained critical injuries after a multi-vehicle crash on US-17 Sunday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

An FHP crash report states around 1:15 p.m., a Kia Soul was traveling north on US-17 when it crashed into two stopped vehicles at the intersection of Eagle Harbor Parkway.

The two stopped vehicles were a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Tesla Model 3. 

All of the occupants involved in the crash, a 67-year-old Jacksonville man, a 61-year-old Jacksonville man and a 26-year-old Green Cove Springs man, were hospitalized after the crash.

The motorcyclist is being treated for critical injuries, and the other two drivers are being treated for minor injuries.

The crash shut down all lanes of the highway, causing backups for drivers in the area.

FHP said charges are pending the result of the crash investigation.
