FHP: 3 teens injured in Fleming Island crash after driver 'lost control' of vehicle

All of the teens were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to a Florida Highway Patrol crash report.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Three teens were injured in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Fleming Island, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Around 3:18 a.m., a gray 2004 Chevrolet Suburban was negotiating a curve on Harbor Lake Drive when the driver "lost control of the vehicle," an FHP crash report states.

The vehicle overturned and came to a final rest on the driver's side south of South Brook Drive.

Two passengers, a Fleming Island 16-year-old girl and a Fleming Island 17-year-old boy, suffered critical injuries in the crash, the report said. The driver, an 18-year-old Jacksonville man, had minor injuries.

The driver and passengers were taken to HCA Orange Park Hospital for treatment.

According to FHP, none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
