JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Department of Transportation is inspecting a bridge over Interstate 295 after the bed of a dump truck crashed into an overpass, causing damage to multiple beams Monday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 9:20 a.m. on I-295 North and Old Middleburg Road, and as FDOT crews evaluate the bridge, the right outside lane of traffic is blocked.
A crash report states the bed of the dump truck was elevated when it went under the overpass, causing it to crash into the bridge's beams.
The bed of the truck was separated from the truck at the time of the crash, according to the report.
The 51-year-old Jacksonville man driving the truck was not hurt in the crash.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the area.
