Florida Highway Patrol confirmed Sunday night that two adults and a child died in a head-on collision crash in East Palatka.
On Monday, FHP confirmed a fourth person had died as a result of the crash. That fourth victim is a young girl believed to be about 4 years old. She was in a car seat.
The crash occurred sometime before 6:35 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of U.S. 17 and Brunner Lane.
FHP spokesman Sgt. Dylan Bryan confirmed Sunday that three people have died from this crash and that two others were transported to an area hospital.
Bryan said the crash was a head-on collision but details are still coming in regarding how the crash occurred.
FHP later tweeted that all northbound and southbound lanes are closed and that there are currently eight patients involved, three of which are fatal. Expect an extensive delay in the area.
Bryan later told First Coast News a 15-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, a separate, unrelated crash occurred around the same time as the fatal crash.
