FHP: 20-year-old Georgia man dies after crash on I-10 in Columbia County

The man was driving an SUV that left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — A 20-year-old Camen County man is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 westbound Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Around 11:23 a.m., the man was driving an SUV heading west on the entrance ramp to I-10 westbound near Mile Marker 303, FHP said.

As the SUV traveled onto the entrance ramp, the vehicle "began to rotate" and left the roadway. FHP said the SUV entered the north unpaved shoulder of I-10 westbound and collided with a utility pole.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to FHP.

A crash report indicates the man was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
