COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — An 18-year-old Fort White man is dead after a crash on State Road 47 in Columbia County Saturday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
An FHP crash report states around 3:38 p.m., a pickup truck was traveling north on SR-47 near the intersection of SW Vixen Way when the vehicle experienced a "tire failure."
FHP says the truck then traveled off the roadway into the east shoulder before crashing into a tree.
The 18-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP.
The victim was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, the report states.
FHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
