FHP: Palm Coast 17-year-old riding bike struck, killed by dump truck

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — A 17-year-old boy is dead after a crash in Palm Coast Monday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A crash report states that around 4:18 p.m., a dump truck was stopped at a stop sign on Pine Grove Drive, east of Belle Terre Parkway. 

The 17-year-old was riding a motorized bicycle heading south on the sidewalk of Belle Terre Parkway, north of Pine Grove Drive.

FHP said the 51-year-old man driving the dump truck accelerated from the stop sign, striking the teen.

The dump truck dragged the teen and his bicycle onto Belle Terre Parkway after the crash, the report said.

The driver ultimately stopped in the median of Belle Terre Parkway.

The teen died as a result of the crash. The driver was not hurt.

The report states the teen was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
