25-year-old dead after fatal three-vehicle crash on I-95 Thursday

Troopers say that charges are pending as they believe speed may have been a factor in this crash.

One person is dead after a three-vehicle crash that shut down all northbound lanes of Interstate 95 at US-1 for several hours Thursday morning.

Jose Vazquez-Trujillo, 25, was declared deceased on the scene of the collision which occurred around 4:55 a.m., according to The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP)

Troopers say a silver Toyota, traveling NB on Interstate 95, ran off the road. Troopers say the car overcorrected and hit the guard rail. A black Chrysler and red Nissan hit the Toyota as it was coming to rest in the road.

The driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old female, was transported to Halifax with critical injuries.

The black Chrysler was driven by a 40-year-old and red Nissan was driven by a 50-year-old. Both were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The lanes reopened around 9 a.m.
