ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Two people are dead and four people suffered injuries after a crash on State Road 16 and San Giacomo Road in St. Johns County Saturday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol says.
A 20-year-old St. Augustine man and a 60-year-old Orlando woman were killed as a result of the crash.
According to FHP, a sedan was traveling east on S.R. 16 and a sports utility vehicle was heading westbound.
The 20-year-old driver of the sedan traveled into the westbound lanes, causing a head-on collision. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report.
The 60-year-old killed was a passenger in the sports utility vehicle. Four other people in the sports utility vehicle, a 32-year-old man, 30-year-old woman, 9-year-old girl and 12-year-old girl, all suffered injuries.
The 32-year-old driver of the vehicle and the 9-year-old passenger sustained serious injuries.
The crash shut down all lanes of S.R. 16 for several hours as crews remained on the scene, according to the St. Johns County Fire and Rescue Department.
