A man person is dead after a fatal crash involving two vehicles in the east Palatka area on Thursday.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Edgardo Lopez, 40, was killed in the collision.
Troops say that Lopez was traveling eastbound on West Cracker Swamp Road in a Nissan Sentra. They say he was attempting to cross over to travel north on State Road 207 when a Kentworth tractor-trailer collided with the left side his vehicle.
A 28-year-old was in the passenger's seat of the vehicle and was transported with critical injuries.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) posted on Facebook that the southbound lanes of SR 207 near Cracker Swamp Road were closed due to a traffic crash.
The roads have since reopened.
PCSO says the Florida Highway Patrol is investigating this case. No charges have been filed that we are aware of.
