JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A motorcyclist is dead after a crash on Argyle Forest Boulevard Wednesday night, marking the 31st traffic fatality in Duval County this year, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
The 8:30 p.m. crash happened at the intersection of Argyle Forest Boulevard and Westport Road on the Westside.
According to police, the victim, a man in his early 30s, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle heading westbound on Argyle Forest Boulevard and a 4-door Subaru was eastbound attempting to make a left turn onto Westport Road at the time of the crash.
Police said the driver pulled in front of the motorcycle, causing the crash.
The motorcyclist hit the passenger side of the vehicle and was thrown over from the motorcycle, landing on the concrete. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Jacksonville Fire Rescue.
The driver was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation into the crash.
Police said there was no indication the driver was impaired, and the crash was an accident.
The motorcyclist's death marks the 31st in Duval County in 2024, and the fourth traffic death involving a motorcycle.
JSO Traffic Homicide Sgt. Robert Hungerford encouraged motorcycle riders who want to stay safe on the roads to take advantage of the agency's free motorcycle safety training course.
"If you go out there and train with these fine gentlemen with the sheriff's office, you'll be a much safer rider and you'll be safer out on the roads as well," Hungerford said.
