All lanes of I-295 reopen after deadly crash at Town Center Parkway

The crash happened at 4 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After being closed for several hours Monday morning, all southbound lanes of Interstate 295 reopened following a deadly crash at Town Center Parkway.

The Florida Highway patrol says the crash happened around 3:45 a.m. According to a crash report, a silver sedan was driving south on I-295 when it crashed into the guard rail on the right shoulder of the entrance ramp from Town Center Parkway.

The car was facing west and blocking the on-ramp from Town Center Parkway when the driver, a 28-year-old Jacksonville woman, got out of the vehicle and stood on the passenger side. A silver SUV driving up the on-ramp to I-295 hit the driver and the sedan, the report says.

The woman driving the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV was taken to Memorial Hospital, according to the FHP report.
