JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A head-on collision in the Arlington area Saturday night sent five people to the hospital.
The crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and the Arlington Expressway, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
A Ford F-150 driven by a man in his mid-50s was traveling west on Atlantic and hit an eastbound Ford Mustang convertible with four men in their 20s inside. The Mustang was going to make a left turn onto Arlington but did not yield, JSO said.
All but one of the four people inside the Mustang were not wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to JSO. Two of the four people inside the Mustang were ejected from the car.
All five people involved went to the hospital with varying injuries:
- The driver of the F-150 had minor injuries
- The two passengers of the Mustang that were ejected are in life-threatening condition
- The other two passengers are in serious condition
The road was closed for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene. The road was reopened by 2 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
