JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville woman is dead after a motorcycle-involved crash on San Jose Boulevard Friday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
JSO said the crash happened in the 7300 block of San Jose Blvd. around 6:45 p.m.
A Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on San Jose Blvd. while a Ford van was traveling north.
Both vehicles had the green light at Bolles School Drive when the van made a left turn into the school and failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle. The motorcyclist then ended up crashing into the back of the van.
The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased, JSO said. She was identified as a 38-year-old woman.
The driver of the Ford van is a 46-year-old man who was traveling with no passengers, police said.
Officers are in the early stages of the investigation but said they don't believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
JSO said this crash marks the 106th death on a Jacksonville road in 2021. Police added that there have been 27 fatal motorcycle accidents this year, which is 13 more than there were at this time last year.
