ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A Jacksonville man is dead after being ejected from a pickup truck during a crash on I-95 in St. Johns County Saturday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened on I-95 southbound near Mile Marker 328 at around 4:05 p.m.
FHP said the 38-year-old driver lost control of the wheel when changing from the left to right lane. After changing lanes, the driver then veered back to the left and off the roadway to the median.
The front right of the truck struck the guardrail causing the vehicle to overturn and rotate, authorities said.
The driver was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead on scene.
FHP said the passenger was transported to Baptist South Hospital with minor injuries.
I-95 southbound lanes were closed for more than one hour due to the crash investigation.
