JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Update: As of 2:20 p.m., all southbound lanes have reopened after hours-long closures.
Due to a multi-vehicle crash with injuries, all southbound lanes on Interstate-95 just past Race Track Road are closed Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
St. Johns County Fire Rescue says two people were taken to local hospitals following the crash.
The FHP crash report says a tractor trailer driven by a 62-year-old Jasper, Fla. man was ahead of a sedan in the outside lane and the front of the sedan collided with it. The tractor trailer veered off to the right, striking trees and caught on fire. The Jasper man's injuries are listed as critical, the report said.
The sedan, driven by a 32-year-old Jacksonville man who sustained serious injuries, collided with another tractor trailer driving on the inside lane. That truck tractor's driver received minor injuries from the crash.
The left lane is open, but drivers should use caution when driving in the area.
First Coast News will provide updates as soon as lanes are reopened.
