ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla — A 68-year-old man is dead after he was hit and killed by a semitrailer in Alachua County early Tuesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Around 1:10 a.m. on Tuesday, a semitrailer was heading east on County Road 232, west of State Road 24.
At the same time, a man was walking along CR 232 in the eastbound travel lane.
The semitrailer crashed into the pedestrian, killing him.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
The 60-year-old driver and the 30-year-old passenger both from Jacksonville, were not hurt in the crash.
