NASSAU COUNTY, Fla — A 54-year-old Fernandina Beach man is dead after a crash on U.S. 17 in Nassau County early Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Just after midnight, a silver Ford sedan was heading north on U.S. 17 nearing Crandall Road.
At the same time, a red Ford sedan was traveling southbound on U.S. 17.
The vehicles crashed head-on, killing the 54-year-old driver of the silver sedan and critically injuring the 61-year-old Jacksonville man driving the red sedan.
The intersection of U.S. 17 and Crandall Road was closed due to the crash investigation, according to FHP.
