The Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) has warned motorists to drive carefully after a motorcyclist is killed in one of two severe crashes Saturday.

The crash occurred at US-1 and Old Dixie Highway in Flagler County at around 2:20 p.m. when deputies said the motorcyclist collided with a vehicle.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene.

Just hours earlier, at around noon, deputies responded to a crash on I-95 at Mile Marker 284 where multiple vehicles collided. The crash shut down Exit 284 for hours, deputies say. No life-threatening injuries were reported.

“We have increased patrols on the roads this weekend,” said Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly. “Please slow down, drive alert and be aware of your surroundings. Never text and drive or drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Let’s all do our part to ensure that everyone arrives alive for Christmas and their holiday weekend.”

For the remainder of 2018, DUI Units will enforce sober driving every weekend throughout the county, FCSO says.

"We can't be everywhere, so let's work together to make our roads safe for everyone," Staly said.

To report an aggressive driver, Staly says to call 386-313-4911.
