UNION COUNTY, Fla. — Fourteen students are expected to be OK after they were transported to the hospital following a bus crash in Union County on Thursday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP said the 49-year-old bus driver with the Union County School District was going east on SW 72nd Street approaching CR-796 when a student stood up from his seat, causing the bus driver to look in his rearview mirror. When he looked back at the road, the bus driver was passing a stop sign and tried to stop the bus, the report said.
The bus driver couldn't stop and crashed into a ditch, a DOT sign and a fence, the report said.
FHP said no one was seriously injured and 14 students were transported to nearby hospitals as a precaution.
