JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 1-year-old died and four others were injured after a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning at Intersection-295 and Merrill Road, Florida Highway Patrol report said.
The report said an SUV was traveling north on I-295 just south of Merrill Road around 12:35 a.m. The vehicle traveled off of the roadway to the left, striking a guardrail and several palm trees hitting the center median and overturning. The vehicle came to a rest on its roof, the report said.
A 34-year-old Callahan man driving the SUV and a 27-year-old woman passenger sustained serious injuries, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. The man, the woman and the 1-year-old were not wearing seatbelts or child restraints, the report said.
A five-year-old and four-old children also sustained minor injuries, the report said.
Northbound and southbound lanes were closed Sunday morning.
