International Space Station visible from the First Coast Sunday morning

Find out when you can spot the ISS flying over Jacksonville this weekend.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The International Space Station will be visible across the First Coast for several minutes Sunday morning at 5:39 a.m.

It will appear as a fast-moving star or a plane with no blinking lights on it moving from the West South West to North East.

This is not the only time you will be able to see the station though. It actually is visible just one hour prior around 4:54 a.m. but will only last less than a minute and be near the horizon. Overall though, if you know the right time, you can spot the International Space Station several times a week from the First Coast as long as the weather allows it.

Typically it is visible just prior to sunrise and just after sunset as that is the time when the Space Station is still illuminated by the sun but is not washed out by it under blue skies.

There are currently 10 people on the International Space station including four Americans, three Chinese, two Russians, and one German.
