JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The 2023 season will be remembered as one of the most disappointing in the Jacksonville Jaguars franchise history.
The Jaguars had an epic collapse down the stretch of the regular season, missing the opportunity to repeat and AFC South Division champions and they did not make the playoffs. The team’s top brass know they’ve got to make major improvements to the roster via free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft in order to reach their goals in 2024.
Trevor Lawrence will be entering year three in Doug Pederson's system this fall. The signal caller drafted number one overall in the 2021 at times showed flashes he could be one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, but when it matter most he struggled, particularly with turnovers.
Some of the blame can be attributed to injuries: Lawrence dealt with several. Pederson wasted no time expressing that his quarterback must elevate his game in 2024.
The AFC South Division is much improved, the Houston Texans have made major moves to win now. The reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud has weapons around him in running back Joe Mixon, wide receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell.
Now while the Texans surprised in the entire league winning the division and a playoff game with a first-year head coach and rookie quarterback, everyone is expecting them to possibly challenge the world champion Kansas City Chiefs this fall. So, Lawrence and the Jaguars have been put on notice that they’ve got to get better between now and the start of the 2024 season.
