2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony: How to watch live and in Primetime

PARIS, France — The Summer Olympics will officially kick off Friday with a first-of-its-kind Opening Ceremony in the heart of Paris, France. 

The event is expected to last nearly four hours and will feature dozens of boats floating down the Seine River carrying thousands of Olympic athletes to the Eiffel Tower. The French weather service said Thursday rain showers could hit the Paris region when the ceremony takes place.

How to watch the Olympics Opening Ceremony

The 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony will be shown live across the U.S. and later in Primetime on Friday evening. 

NBC and Peacock will have live coverage beginning at noon Eastern on Friday, July 26. 

Cable, satellite or streaming authentication will be required to watch the NBC Olympics or Peacock live streams.

Telemundo will also provide Spanish-language coverage beginning at 1 p.m. ET.

What time does the Opening Ceremony start for Eastern Time?

The Opening Ceremony officially begins at 1:30 p.m. Eastern. 

What time is the Opening Ceremony for Central Time?

The Opening Ceremony begins at 12:30 p.m. Central. 

What time is the Opening Ceremony for Mountain Time?

The Opening Ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m. Mountain. 

What time is the Opening Ceremony for Pacific Time? 

The Opening Ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. Pacific. 

What time is the Opening Ceremony on NBC?

NBC and Peacock's live coverage begins at noon Eastern on Friday, July 26. 

NBC's Friday evening coverage of the Opening Ceremony will air during Primetime for each respective time zone, with the first airing happening at the same time for Eastern and Central. 

Opening Ceremony Primetime coverage begins Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET, 6:30 p.m. CT, 6:30 p.m. MT, and 7:30 p.m. PT.
