Here's what's in Olympian Ryan Murphy's 'super smoothie'

Olympian Ryan Murphy and his new bride talk about their shopping list for his "super smoothie."

PARIS, France — Ryan Murphy, six-time Olympic medalist before Paris, has a long list of ingredients for his "super smoothie."

His new wife, Bridget, smiles and says, "It's probably like 50 things."  To which Ryan says, "She's exaggerating."

But then Bridget, who's learning to shop for her Olympic husband, starts naming off the ingredients.

"It's always broccoli, beets, ginger, spinach, kale, bananas, blueberries, mango, blackberry and I could go on and on," she says. "It's like dandelion root and tumeric power and cherry."

A natural question would be what color is the mega creation?

"It's brown," Bridget says. Then the two of them laugh a bit before Ryan says, "No, it's purple. Beets overpower."

For certain, Ryan has been talking about beets on his training table since before Rio eight years ago. Ryan is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. He considers himself disciplined on all fronts, including nutrition advice.

His parents, who live in Ponte Vedra, and Bridget are in Paris cheering him on in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
